Datatec`s e-integration and services arm, Logical Group, has completed implementation of their e-Business Operations Centres (e-BOCs) worldwide, providing clients with remote IT infrastructure management, a central building block in their e-business strategies.
Logical`s e-BOCs have been developed specifically for mid-sized companies and departments of large organisations looking for a smart and practical way to get the nuts and bolts of their e-business infrastructure, systems and applications in place fast.
Says Stephen Lawrence, CEO of Logical Group: "Making sure that you have the right software applications, business tools and network infrastructure is particularly critical when venturing into the B2B or B2C arena. For mid-sized companies, integrating these services and having them operational on a 24-hour basis is extremely costly and risky."
"The e-BOCs allow organisations to obtain remotely managed IT services - at the application, business tool and network infrastructure level - through a single operations centre."
Logical, which is moving towards a separate listing on the London Stock Exchange, has been testing e-BOC pilot projects with customers worldwide and already has a business pipeline in excess of US$10million for managed services in the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand.
A further indication of the demand for their e-BOC based solutions recently came from Australia. Needing a quick transition into the world of e-business, Rocla Industries Limited, a leading building and construction products group with operations in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the USA, turned to Logical.
Rocla outsourced the entire management of its networks to Logical, and also chose Logical to provide continual consultancy on how the existing infrastructure could be enhanced, both technically and through the management processes governing its use. The managed services are all handled through Logical e-BOCs.
Says Steve Moxey, Infrastructure Solutions Director, Logical Group: "e-BOCs are instrumental in helping Logical to transform our traditional customers into e-businesses. Our e-BOC facilities and the services we offer from them represent the most important step so far in Logical`s transition from a network infrastructure reseller to an e-business services provider."
e-BOCs have been built in Cincinnati, USA; Slough, UK; Sydney, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand. More locations are being planned worldwide.
"Mid-sized customers have distinct e-business requirements and e-BOCs address them all. With e-BOCs, they don`t have to struggle to find and retain key IT skills; they are able to lease network infrastructure on an as needed basis rather than worrying about increasing capacity as their requirements grow."
