DataVault software prevented a potential disaster for one of its clients, Kevin Campbell & Associates, last week Tuesday when the server containing all critical data crashed and threatened to put a halt to productivity for several days. Within 24 hours DataVault`s Technical Support Consultant had restored all 1 800 lost files.
In today`s business environment the maintenance and smooth running of hard drives and servers is of paramount importance as the well being of the company depends on it. The staff at Kevin Campbell arrived at work on Tuesday morning to find that the server containing all schedules had crashed and that all their critical data had been lost. It was thought that it would take several days to restore the schedules, resulting in the consultants falling behind and not being able to meet deadlines.
Late on Tuesday Kevin Campbell & Associates contacted Marc Colborne, DataVault`s Technical Support Consultant, who attempted to retrieve the schedules from the DataVault Backup Agent. Colborne arrived and proceeded to retrieve the lost files. Due to the fact that some 1 800 files had to be retrieved, Colborne went to UUNet where the DataVault servers are housed, to retrieve the necessary files directly on to a CD, eliminating download time. By 8:15 on Thursday the CD, complete with all 1 800 schedules, was restored to the server at the offices of Kevin Campbell & Associates and schedules were once again being produced as required.
The lack of schedules would have created serious delays in work schedule, which, without the DataVault Backup Agent, could have resulted in loss of income.
