Direct computer systems company, Dell South Africa, announced a new performance model of its Latitude notebook PC, featuring the latest Intel Mobile Pentium III processor with SpeedStep technology.

"This latest addition to our Latitude `C` family brings corporate customers world-wide a high performance notebook," says Leigh Hancock, marketing manager of Dell South Africa. "The Latitude CPx continues Dell`s of providing businesses with relevant technologies and value for money." The Latitude CPx J750GT suits mainstream corporate customers that require near desktop performance. It features a 14.1-inch active matrix display, 100 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) coupled with a full size keyboard.

At 750 MHz clock speeds, SpeedStep technology allows a mobile PC to run the most complex business and applications with speed virtually identical to a desktop system. When powered by a battery, the processing frequency drops to 600 MHz, conserving battery life while maintaining a high level of performance.

Hancock says the new model also incorporates the Dell DualPoint design that integrates two cursor-pointing devices: a touch pad and a pointing stick.

"By allowing customers to use either device, or both, usability is improved," he adds.

In addition, this product supports up to 512MB RAM and comes with 8MB of video RAM as well as 2X AGP support for video performance. Apart from the three-year international next-business-day onsite , the product further comes standard with 128MB RAM, a 6GB hard disk drive, floppy disk drive and 24X-maximum CD-ROM drive with Microsoft Windows 2000. Due to Dell`s "build-to-order" flexibility, this configuration can be customised to a user`s specific requirements at the time of order.
