Dell announces new notebooks with fastest mobile processor

Johannesburg, 06 Apr 2001

Dell SA has announced support for the newly introduced Intel Mobile Pentium III processors, at 1GHz in its Latitude notebook computers.

"Having now reached the 1GHz mark in the mobile sphere, Dell customers are able to reach new levels of performance for gaming, entertainment and business applications," says Leigh Hancock, product-marketing manager for Dell SA.

The new processor is available in the wireless-ready Latitude C800 system. Advanced features, including 32MB ATI Mobility M4 graphics and the soon-to-be-released 32MB nVidia GeForce2 Go, offer realistic textures and motion. According to Hancock, this system represents mobile computing display technology and horsepower for dynamic presentations, as well as rich, lifelike games and DVD playback.

The price of the standard Latitude C800 starts at R24 680, VAT and delivery excluded. The product includes Intel`s Mobile Pentium III processor at 1GHz, 128MB SDRAM, 15-inch UXGA display, 10GB hard disk drive, mini-PCI internal modem, ATI Mobility 128 (4X AGP) with 16MB VRAM, Dell`s DualPoint pointing device, fixed 24X maximum CD-ROM drive, floppy diskette drive, Microsoft Windows 2000 and three-year next business day onsite service.
