Dell expands new latitude d-family with value-priced notebook

New D500 delivers essential productivity and quality users can depend on

Dell today announced the latest member of the recently unveiled Latitude(tm) D-Family portfolio, the Latitude D500, a thin and light wireless enabled notebook designed for budget-conscious mobile users. The Latitude D500 especially appeals to price-sensitive customers and small and medium businesses with a networked environment, providing true mobility without sacrificing reliability, flexibility or performance.

Starting at R17,150[1] <outbind://46/#_edn1> including VAT and Delivery, the D500 features new Intel(r) Centrino(tm) Mobile Technology. The D500 comes standard with Intel(r) Pentium M processor, Intel 855 chipset and the Intel PROWireless(tm) 2100 (802.11b) MiniPCI Wireless card. Customers can also choose the Dell(tm) TrueMobile(tm) 1300 (802.11b/g) [2] <outbind://46/#_edn2> .

Dell customers consulted in the development of the D-Family notebooks provided feedback affecting their usability, features and form factors. As well as incorporating great value the, Latitude D500 still offers D-Family performance and enhanced connectivity, including 10/100 Ethernet, 56K Modem, USB 2.0 and optional Bluetooth.

The Latitude D500 features the same user-friendly design elements that are common across the new product line. An improved layout provides easy access to the side module bay, and a bottom docking design, which simplifies cable management.

For desktop functionality and convenience, the D500 can utilize the D/Port advanced port replicator, as well as the new space-saving D/View notebook stand. This unique accessory takes advantage of the new bottom docking port, allowing users to elevate the notebook display to eye-level removing the need for an external monitor & so reducing customer`s costs even further.

Dell offers single point of accountability for deployment services to support Dell`s latest portfolio of Latitude products, which can help save time and effort and allow customers to focus IT resources on more strategic projects. Dell Custom Factory Integration services can be valuable for customers rolling out new platforms and are designed to help achieve platform stability and consistency without compromising the level of control required for their specific business requirements.
