Dell SA has announced the Inspiron 2600 notebook computer, designed with the most essential features for value-oriented customers. Starting at R17,660 including VAT and delivery, the Inspiron 2600 is a fully configurable notebook that makes it easy for end users to choose from a range of technology options and customise a low-cost system.
With a new slimmer design than its predecessor, the Inspiron 2500, the 2600 offers more than enough performance to meet a variety of requirements such as running educational software and games, browsing the Web, managing e-mail, and other productivity applications including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. "The integrated modem and networking connections ensure that a mobile user can easily link to the Internet either via telephone line or high-speed broadband service," notes Leigh Hancock, product-marketing manager at Dell SA.
The Inspiron 2600 features a bright 14.1-inch XGA display, Intel Celeron 1.06GHz processor, 128MB shared SDRAM memory, 20GB hard drive, 24X max CD-ROM, with integrated floppy disk drive, integrated 56k v.92 capable modem and optional 10/100 network card and the Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system with Works Suite 2002. (Up to 32MB of system memory may be allocated to support DVMT graphics.)
This product can be built to order with options customers consider most important, including faster Mobile Intel Pentium III-M processors, a bright 15-inch display and bigger hard disk drives. A system featuring a Mobile Intel Pentium III processor at 1.0GHz-M and 15-inch XGA display starts at R20, 680 including VAT and delivery.
All Inspiron 2600 notebooks include current technologies such as TFT active-matrix screens and long-life lithium ion batteries. These notebooks are designed with several ports and connectivity options to take advantage of today`s latest digital applications:
. Two USB ports for fast, easy connections with peripherals like digital cameras, personal digital assistants and gaming joysticks;
. One PC Card slot for connecting to wireless networks via optional wireless PC Card;
. And one Stereo Speaker output port for enhancing digital audio entertainment. To make the Inspiron 2600 easy to use, Dell includes a button that quickly and efficiently links the customer to the Dell Solution Centre.
"This online tool with automated self diagnostics can troubleshoot and help fix the most common computer problems," explains Hancock. He adds that the system also comes with a one year collect and return service.
