Dell today expanded its handheld product family by introducing its newest member, the Axim X3, a slim and compact PDA that includes a R3 560 including VAT and delivery model with integrated wireless capability.

At 142 grams, the Axim X3 is 28% lighter than its predecessor, and at 1.4cm, 17% thinner. The Axim X3 delivers bright colour displays, removable primary batteries, SD I/O, consumer infrared and optional built-in wireless networking. It is available in three configurations: one with integrated WiFi 802.11b for R3 560 and two non-wireless configurations for R2 220 and R2 660, including VAT and delivery.

"Dell established the gold standard of price-performance and customer value leadership in the handheld segment throughout the past year," said Ben McDonald, Client Product Manager at Dell South Africa. "With the Axim X3, Dell once again is leading, bringing integrated WiFi functionality at excellent price points on the Pocket PC platform.

The Axim X3 handheld comes with Microsoft`s Windows Mobile 2003 software for pocket PC, and pocket versions of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Internet Explorer (2), MSN Messenger and Windows Media Player. The Axim X3 will also come with one-year advanced exchange service standard (3).

The built-in Secure Digital IO slot can host a number of devices. A 3.5-inch transflective TFT colour display is standard on all Axim X3 configurations, with 240x320 (QVGA) resolution. The unit`s sync/recharge cradle - standard on R3 560 and R2 660 configurations - has an extra battery charge slot that accommodates either a spare standard battery (950mAh) or the available high-capacity (1 800mAh) battery.
