"On the one hand the CPx model provides performance-hungry corporate customers with a feature-rich solution, incorporating Intel`s latest SpeedStep technology, while the CPt model is designed to appeal to customers who want a cost-effective option that does not sacrifice performance or the compatibility of options and peripherals."
Available now, the Latitude CPx J650GT is ideal for mainstream corporate customers who need outstanding performance. The Latitude CPx J650GT features the latest Intel Mobile Pentium III processor with SpeedStep technology at 650 MHz and a 14.1-inch active matrix display. It also features the Dell DualPoint design that integrates two cursor-pointing devices: a touch pad and a pointing stick. Designed to improve usability, DualPoint lets customers use either device, or both.
The Latitude CPx supports up to 512 MB RAM and comes with 8 MB of video RAM and 2X AGP support for smooth video performance.
The Latitude CPx J650GT comes standard with a three-year next-business-day onsite service, 64 MB RAM, 6 GB hard disk drive, floppy disk drive and 24X-maximum CD-ROM drive. It is currently selling at R22 990-00, excluding VAT and delivery.
Dell`s two new Latitude CPt models are targeted to price-sensitive customers in markets such as government, education and business. The Latitude CPt S500GT and CPt S450ST incorporate the new Intel Mobile Celeron processors at 500 MHz and 450 MHz respectively, and an integrated modem. The CPt models use active matrix displays, the Dell DualPoint feature and Lithium-ion batteries. A CPt S500GT comes with a one-year collect and return service, which is upgradeable to a three years next-business-day onsite service. It has a 14.1-inch display, 64 MB RAM, 4.8 GB hard disk drive, floppy disk drive and a 24X CD-ROM drive. The unit is selling for R17 490-00 excluding Vat and delivery (price includes internal modem). A similarly configured CPt S450ST with a 450 MHz Celeron processor and 12.1-inch display is R14 990-00 excluding Vat and delivery (price includes internal modem).
The Latitude C-family notebooks, launched in 1997, can all utilise common docking and peripherals, including CD-RW, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, LS-120 and floppy drives, second hard disk drive, and AC adapter.
