Dell launches ultra-light, ultra-mobile notebook

New Latitude D430 packed with latest connectivity and management features, making it the ideal business tool for road warriors.
Johannesburg, 24 Jul 2007

Dell announced recently the launch of the new Latitude D430 notebook, bringing the ultimate mobile experience to customers across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Offering the latest in stylish and slim design, the Latitude D430 is specially built for the highly mobile professional who values small size, light weight, robust connectivity and a long battery life.

"Today's organisations demand that business notebooks meet specific technology standards for easier management and cost reduction. At the same time, business users want a notebook that is both functional and easy to use," said Gavin Slevin, Brand Manager Client Products of Dell South Africa

"The Latitude D430 takes this one step further by providing mobile professionals a small, ultra-light notebook packed with the latest features that allow them to conduct business on the go."

With a starting weight of just 1.35kg and a battery life lasting longer than 4.5 hours, the Latitude D430 offers customers the option of single or dual-core Intel Xeon ULV processors, and uses Dell's robust suite of integrated docking and expansion solutions to provide flexibility and expanded capabilities in the office.

The notebook also supports the Microsoft Windows Vista Aero graphics experience, designed to show translucent windows, three-dimensional perspective, rich textures, advanced colour mixes and animations, which are further enhanced with the notebook's high-performance 12.1-inch WXGA display.

Design, connectivity, security and availability: The Latitude D430 is designed around four key areas that address the mobile customer's requirements around security, availability and ease of management:

* Innovative design, providing customers with advanced options and new levels of customisation that can best fit their needs and budgets throughout the product life cycle, including the Dell's Direct Deploy Services, which simplify image management.
* HyperConnect Wireless features, that enable users to work from virtually anywhere with the integrated 802.11n wireless connectivity. A built-in Dell WiFi Catcher Utility switch allows users to quickly find a network, even when the notebook is closed.
* Smart Security solutions that include integrated smart card and optional biometric fingerprint readers, TPM 1.2 and fully-encrypted hard drives that do not sacrifice performance.
* RoadReady quality with magnesium alloy construction and full-time Strike Zone hard drive protection, all backed by an average of 13 000 hours of rigorous testing to ensure durable operation.

Energy Star 4.0 compliance

The Latitude D430 further expands Dell's Energy Smart product line-up as select configurations comply with the Energy Star 4.0 standards.

This Environmental Protection Agency specification calls for more stringent controls over the amount of energy consumed by desktop and notebook systems.

Maximising ownership experience

Dell is committed to helping customers take the complexity out of their IT infrastructures so they can spend their resources on growing their business.

The new Latitude D430 allows customers to simplify operations and better manage their mobile workforce with assets that are easy to deploy and maintain with focused deployment services, four generations of component commonality and remote administration capabilities with Dell Client Manager.

Pricing and availability: The Latitude D430 notebook is available immediately, priced from R11 990, including VAT and delivery.
