Johannesburg, South Africa, 27 March 2006 - Dell is driving high-end technology to mainstream price-points thus enabling customers throughout EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) to flexibly and efficiently adopt the latest technology.
The Dell model enables the company to pass on efficiencies and value to customers from client products such as notebooks and desktops, to enterprise server solutions with the result being faster adoption of latest technologies for customers of all sizes and 2006 is shaping up to be particularly exciting.
Setting pace for dual-core adoption
In enterprise, for example, the trend is increasingly towards more powerful standardised systems facilitated by the introduction of dual-core which has enabled dramatic increases in performance and power efficiency. Offering savings of up to R8 250, Dell is enabling businesses of all sizes across South Africa to enjoy the advantages of transitioning to the latest dual-core technology being brought to market in Dell`s PowerEdge servers. These systems are now available with price reductions of up to 23%, compared to the originally listed price.
Likewise, customers purchasing Dell Precision workstations will also reap the benefits of price reductions, evident in the new pricing of the Dell Precision 380 that has witnessed a price decrease of 20% compared to the originally listed price.
For customers purchasing Dell`s latest offering in corporate desktops, the soon to be available Dell OptiPlex GX520 will ship with the latest dual-core processor priced the same as desktops with single-core processors.
Dual-core adoption simplified for new server customers
Effective from Monday, 27 March, customers in participating countries will find it even easier to take advantage of dual-core technologies and will benefit from savings of up to R13 750 when they purchase selected Dell PowerEdge Server bundles, through a new offer - `My 1st Dell Server`. This offer demonstrates how the company is making it easy for customers to integrate a new vendor into what can be a complex infrastructure environment.
Customers wishing to implement this new technology will, in addition, receive 50% off installation services, Dell`s premium warranty service offer (Gold) for the price of our standard offer (Bronze), as well as free online systems management training from Dell to facilitate integration into existing environments. The `My 1st Dell Server Promotion` is valid from Wednesday, 29 March to Friday, 28 April 2006.
Latest technology to corporate notebooks
Customers purchasing Dell`s mobile notebook solutions, which are at the vanguard when it comes to taking advantage of the increasing flexibility of wireless Internet access, can also enjoy cost savings across the board.
Dell`s Latitude customers will benefit from savings of up to 10% on CompleteCare Accidental Damage. CompleteCare Accidental Damage provides coverage against spills, drops, extreme temperatures and electrical surges and is yet another example of Dell`s commitment to addressing the needs of mobile customers.
Likewise, for customers seeking a competitively priced value mobile solution, the new Dell Latitude 120L priced at R5 490 will deliver savings of 17% compared to previous models.
