Dell refreshes SME servers
The entry-level PowerEdge T110 II and mid-market PowerEdge R210 II servers both ship with Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, among other enhancements.
The T110 tower primarily targets smaller firms considering their first on-premises server, while the rack-based R210 model might be more likely to attract mid-size companies or SMEs of all stripes looking to expand their current server architecture.
On the storage side, Dell is rolling out two offerings the company says will help SMEs manage the growing mountain of data while increasing the availability of the information, writes eWeek.
The PowerVault NX3500, a network-attached storage offering that leverages technology Dell inherited in 2010 when it bought Exanet for $12 million. The NX3500 offers Dell's Scalable File System, which gives the system scale-up capabilities for smaller-scale high-availability environments, the company said.
It works with Dell's PowerVault MD32x0i and MD36x0i storage arrays to create a unified storage environment with iSCSI, common Internet file system and network file system access to block and file data.
According to IEWY News, the PowerVault MD3600i is an Ethernet-based (10GbE) storage device that is designed to deliver exceptional storage capacity to SMEs without sacrificing performance or flexibility.
With an intuitive multi-generational management interface, the MD3600i can be installed in under 30 minutes. Growing businesses with limited technical and financial resources can keep up with data growth, Web and media demands while reducing server sprawl by virtualising infrastructure applications.
