Tech giant, Dell has enhanced its Fluid Data architecture with several new offerings and solutions stemming from the company's acquisitions last year.
This was revealed at this week's Dell Storage Forum conference, in London. The enhancements aim to help businesses quickly adapt to the changing demands of their organisations and increase automation for management of their primary, backup and archive data.
“Today's IT organisations are moving faster than ever, down a road that is constantly changing. That's why their data needs to be as dynamic as their business,” explains Darren Thomas, Dell Enterprise Storage VP and GM.
“With Dell's new primary, archive and backup storage solutions, the Dell Fluid Data architecture delivers the storage intelligence customers need to deal with a sea of constant IT change without driving up costs, wasting time or continually replacing infrastructure.”
The architecture has been strengthened with Dell's deduplication backup appliance that integrates intellectual property from its Ocarina acquisition, software for Compellent storage arrays, and a storage optimisation solution for Microsoft SharePoint.
Dell says it is also providing broader support for Dell Froce10, PowerConnect and Brocade storage networking solutions.
Simon Robinson, storage research director for consulting firm 451 Research, says: “This strategy fits well with the broader Dell portfolio, and also opens a significant opportunity to expand its footprint within its own existing customer base and in the wider storage market.”
