Dell South Africa recently received two awards from VMware. VMware named Dell South Africa “VMware's Top Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Partner” for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region at the VMworld Europe Conference held in Cannes, France.
At the second award event held in South Africa, Dell South Africa received “VMware's best OEM in South Africa” award. The awards acknowledge Dell South Africa's contribution to VMware's growing market share over the past year.
According to Stewart van Graan, General Manager of Dell Africa, who accepted the award on behalf of Dell in South Africa: “As a VMware OEM and VMware Authorised Consultant (VAC) partner, we are particularly proud of this achievement as we were selected from a group of several industry leaders. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with VMware in the future in the interest of providing customers with further benefits. These include improved procurement and systems maintenance processes resulting in significant cost savings and improved access to server infrastructure, delivering ease of management.
“Our strategic partnership with VMware is perfectly aligned with Dell South Africa's commitment to deliver enterprise solutions, including servers and storage solutions that can be optimised for virtualised environments, providing customers with an immediate return on their investments,” added van Graan.
Dell South Africa excelled in the four main award criteria, having recorded the highest revenue among the four OEM partners nominated for this award in the revenue growth sector. It qualified for the product spread sold, as Dell South Africa sold almost every solution offered by VMware. Skills development was also a strong point, as Dell South Africa ensured all its solutions consultants received VMware Consultancy training. The number of certifications received, as well as the level of VMWare training completed, were influential factors. The final category that Dell South Africa excelled in was support of VMWare events. This category acknowledged the fact that Dell South Africa representatives attended the VMworld Las Vegas and VMworld Europe Awards and sponsored VForum events locally.
