Dell servers offer cloud management

Dell has unveiled a series of servers designed for large cloud computing environments, reports Reuters.

The company says the features of its PowerEdge C-series servers were inspired by its Data Centre Solutions business, where it sells servers to very large cloud computing infrastructure customers, but were targeted at a range of buyers regardless of their market size.

The cloud refers generally to accessing applications or information stored remotely on servers in centres, rather than locally on a personal computer.

Oz govt unveils centre strategy

Federal Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner has unveiled the Australian government's 15-year strategy for data centre management, states Government News.

In an address to the 'Future-proofing your data centre' conference in Sydney, Tanner announced the strategy would be a whole-of-government approach to managing data centre requirements.

Tanner said the government was a large consumer of ICT, with a data centre floor space of around 30 000 square metres.

Panasonic intros VMS solution

The WV-ASM970 Video Management Software (VSM) from Panasonic System Networks provides a dedicated graphical user interface for Panasonic video systems, says Security Info Watch.

Feature highlights include dual monitor outputs for system operation/maps and the other for monitoring video, and multiple split-screen capabilities.

The VSM solution is designed to interface with Panasonic's PMPU1000 System Management Servers to deliver enhanced flexibility and scalability for a range of video networking needs, including creation of global systems with universal cross-network access to video.
