Dell simplifies desktop with new OptiPlex 330

Latest addition to OptiPlex line offers platform stability and energy efficiency at reduced operational cost.
Johannesburg, 07 Nov 2007

Dell recently announced the launch of the OptiPlex 330, latest addition to its commercial desktop line-up, designed to help customers simplify and reduce operational costs.

The OptiPlex 330 is available to business and institutional customers across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) that want leading remote management solutions and power efficiency at a low initial investment.

The system is also backed by Dell services that allow customers to save time and resources related to deployment and maintenance.

"Our customers are being increasingly challenged to bring business value to their organisations by reducing operational costs to enable innovation in other areas," said Ben McDonald, Client Products Brand Manager at Dell South Africa.

"The OptiPlex 330 furthers Dell`s long-term commitment to eliminating complexity for our customers, enabling them to focus on growth while still providing the essential features necessary to manage their IT environments."

Delivering most essential features for desktop environments

The OptiPlex 330 delivers basic systems management without compromising performance and includes DirectDetect, a series of LED lights that allows for easy diagnosis of system health.

Customers can rest assured their data is protected with the latest features to ensure simplified management, increased reliability and security, such as:

* RAID 1 that creates an exact copy of a set of data on two or more disks.
* CompuTrace capability, incorporated into the BIOS for stolen hardware traceability.
* Secure remote access through ASF2.0 to power cycle systems, as well as basic command line interface controls.
* Centralised, remote control with Dell Client Manager to automate common tasks associated with system maintenance.

Dell OptiPlex extends environmental leadership

Continuing Dell`s pledge to be the "most green technology vendor" on the planet, the OptiPlex 330 offers broadly configurable Energy Star 4.0 options, including 80% power efficient power supplies.

The system is also available with Energy Smart power settings that allow customers to lower energy costs by up to 78%. Dell also has the most business desktops that meet stringent EPEAT "Gold" standards with the addition of the OptiPlex 330.

Dell offers customers a robust set of options for responsibly retiring and recycling used equipment through the company`s Asset Recovery Services. Customers can take advantage of Dell managing pick-up of used equipment, refurbishment and remarketing for value recovery, full reporting and responsible recycling.

Dell deployment services for end-to-end reliability

Dell Deployment Services complete this total solution, with assistance from order consolidation to co-ordination, resulting in lower deployment costs and an enhanced end-user experience.

In addition, ImageDirect`s Web-based, hosted image management service enables customers to easily create, load and manage custom images for all Dell commercial client systems.

An industry-first service, ImageDirect allows customers to create a single master image in up to nine languages, with organisation-wide applications that can be customised according to departmental needs, decreasing maintenance costs and speeding time-to-deployment of new systems.

Pricing and availability: The OptiPlex 330 is available today and starts at R5 240, including delivery and VAT. For more information, visit www.dell.com/optiplex. For details on Dell`s energy-saving strategy, visit www.dell.com/energy.
