Dell teams with SAP to lower cost of enterprise computing

Company leaders share vision for scalable and more flexible technology
Johannesburg, 18 May 2004

Michael Dell recently outlined how customers are increasingly turning to Dell for scalable, standardised systems in the data centre, including those for business-critical applications from SAP.

Dell was joined on stage by the CEO of SAP AG, Henning Kagermann, who discussed the importance of SAP`s global partnership with Dell in order for SAP to meet the needs of a growing number of customers who want to improve performance and lower costs through standards-based platforms.

This partnership is further evidence of Dell`s commitment to expand its solutions portfolio for enterprise customers. The investments Dell is making today with SAP, in key areas such as professional services, will help accelerate the adoption of standards in the data centre.

"Dell and SAP share a vision to make enterprise technology and business solutions more scalable by simplifying operations and engineering for flexibility," said Dell. "The enterprise data centre is transitioning to standards and customers are looking to Dell and SAP for price and performance leadership."

"As the worldwide leader in business software solutions, SAP`s success has been driven by a vision to satisfy the needs of our customers," stated Kagermann. "Through the SAP NetWeaver integration and application platform, we strive to provide customers with innovative software solutions that reduce costs, achieve rapid ROI, adapt to company change, and turn IT innovation into business value. Dell`s focus on value and flexibility with its scalable enterprise vision makes them an ideal partner to help deliver on our customer-oriented goals."
