The eighth Design Indaba Conference, which includes a new media digital design category, gets under way at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 23to 25 February.
The conference will feature local and international speakers across a range of disciplines from new media design to graphic broadcast, says Ravi Naidoo, MD of Interactive Africa, host and founder of the Design Indaba.
Speakers at the conference include the contemporary Brazilian design brothers, Fernando and Humberton Campana, as well as local designer Nathan Reddy.
The second Design Indaba Expo, which is held after the conference from 25 to 27 February, showcases South African design, says Naidoo.
The expo has shifted emphasis towards 'edutainment` this year, with fashion shows, a film studio showcasing the South African film and TV industry, and a Creatathon where visitors can see the creation of an advertising campaign live and in real-time.
The Design Indaba is "an inspiration" for young designers, says Naidoo.
