Dimension Data i-Commerce Services has announced iTax, the first electronic gateway to SARS` New Income Tax System (NITS).

"iTax cuts turnaround times for tax directives from six weeks to two days," Baird says. "Quicker submission and the NITS business processes result in a faster response from South African Revenue Services (SARS) and expedite payouts. Dimension Data i-Commerce Services is the first external Directive Agent to successfully complete SARS` test cycle for systems interfacing with NITS. Launched in January 2000, NITS enables companies to communicate directly with SARS. It provides for the electronic delivery of tax directives and certificates as well as for the receipt of responses from SARS.
iTax acts as an electronic gateway between NITS and the user organisation. Dimension Data i-Commerce Services` target markets for iTax include: life offices; financial services corporations; large employers; and payroll companies.
"The business benefits for users of iTax include SARS-approved validation, reduced staff frustration and enhanced staff efficiency. iTax validates input according to the official SARS specification, so all submissions are guaranteed to be correct in form and content. The system also features intelligent tracking, enabling documents to be located on the taxpayer`s name alone," Baird says.
Users of iTax can track certificates and directives in seconds, submit tax certificates on line and cancel incorrect certificates online. When a batch of certificates is submitted, iTax generates a receipt from SARS as proof of delivery.
