Dimension Data has created a finance unit to help clients upgrade or improve their IT infrastructure.

The company says Dimension Data Finance “is a tailor-made leasing and financing model that was developed in response to repeated difficulties experienced by clients trying to upgrade or improve their IT infrastructures”.

DiData's finance unit “aims to accelerate and ease clients' adoption of the technologies they need to improve competitiveness through logistical management and finance support”, it says.

It is a joint undertaking between Dimension Data and RentWorks, and offers three financing and leasing options: new equipment rental, the sell and rent back plan, and the exchange plan.

RentWorks, an independent asset rental company, is already providing finance worth more than R3 billion to over 400 local companies.

Dimension Data Finance account manager Colleen Fynn says clients are seeing increasing pressure on IT budgets, and an increasing need for flexibility of IT asset management.

“Clients understand the value of technology to their business, but the constraints of a slowing economy and greater caution mean they are battling to free up the resources to keep their infrastructures current and competitive,” Fynn says.

Fynn explains leasing IT hardware helps free up cash flow and allows companies to gain access to the latest technology on an ongoing basis, without having to worry about managing the assets.
