Dimension Data has split the role of chairman and CEO, with chief operating officer Brett Dawson being appointed group CEO.
Dawson has been chief operating officer at Dimension Data since October 2002. He joined the group in 1997.
Jeremy Ord, who previously held both the chairman and CEO posts, retains the chairmanship.
Chief financial officer Malcolm Rutherford has resigned, although he will remain on the board in a non-executive role.
"The group is now in much better shape and I feel that it is time to hand over the reins to someone else," Rutherford says.
There had been rumours towards the end of last year that Rutherford was quitting, although the group emphatically denied this at the time.
Rutherford is being replaced by David Sherriffs, who joined Dimension Data in 1997. In 2000, he was named vice-president of business development for Europe and relocated to Germany. He has served as group executive operations since last year.
The group says the splitting of the role of chairman and CEO aligns it with global regulatory and corporate governance best practice.
The Dimension Data share price had increased by 28c to 528c by 11am today.
