The contract, which takes effect on February 1, 2000, was awarded to Telemation Training and ComTech`s NetBr@in, the German and Benelux-based subsidiaries of Comparex Networks.
Dimension Data announced its intention to purchase Comparex Networks late last year and takes control of the pan-European company on February 1.
Two other Dimension Data Group companies - Datacraft in Asia and Com Tech Communications in Australia - also offer extensive Cisco training.
Richard Came, Dimension Data Holdings` Group marketing director, says the latest training contract is a clear indication of the degree of expertise within the Dimension Data Group and testimony to the depth of its skills base.
"In terms of its global operations, Dimension Data can confidently boast the highest number of Cisco Certified Engineers of any systems integration company. The fact that Cisco has turned to the Group for the training of its own personnel underscores the effectiveness of our internal training programmes," he says.
Over 10 organisations vied for the EMEA contract with Cisco finally selecting only two partners - Telemation/ComTech and a British-based company, Azlan.
Telemation Training and NetBr@in are the top two companies in the EMEA for Cisco instructor certification. The awarding of the contract was dependent on the training supplier having points of presence in various European locations - a condition easily met by Comparex Network`s footprint on the continent.
