Digi Releases mesh networking protocol

Digi International has introduced DigiMesh on 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz XBee embedded RF modules, says Trading Markets.

DigiMesh is a peer-to-peer mesh protocol for battery powered networks that provides for mesh networks while providing features such as sleeping routers and support for dense networks.

It will be offered in addition to existing XBee point-to-multipoint and ZigBee mesh networking solutions as part of Digi's comprehensive Drop-in Networking product line, the company said.

Adva introduces Optojack

Adva Optical Networking today introduced Optojack, a new technology that enables the establishment of intelligent optical demarcation points to monitor advanced optical services, reports Market Watch.

Optojack provides optical demarcation and monitoring at the handoff point between carrier networks, as well as at the demarcation point between the carrier and network.

The technology is designed to enable remote operations, administration and maintenance of key optical network elements in the access and backhaul portions of the network.

Top home networked cities named

Among the top designated marketing areas (DMAs), San Francisco, Miami and Los Angeles are the most connected cities, based on home networking adoption, according to new research from MultiMedia Intelligence, states Market Research.

A wired or wireless home network allows consumers to connect multiple PCs and printers, and to share Internet access among computers.

"Our research identified significant variations among major metropolitan areas," says Mark Kirstein, president of MultiMedia Intelligence. "San Francisco has the highest household home networking adoption rate of 28% among the top DMAs.”
