Dimension Data partners with APC-MGE

Solutions for critical power and cooling solutions
Johannesburg, 05 Oct 2007

Dimension Data, South Africa's leading IT solutions and services provider, has partnered with APC-MGE, a global leader in the provision of critical power and cooling services, to plan, build, support and manage end-to-end critical power and cooling infrastructures.

Commenting on the partnership, Nicholas Shaw, regional business manager for Dimension Data's Advanced Infrastructure division, says: "We will utilise APC-MGE's portfolio of solutions to ensure that our clients are equipped with high-availability and scalable, modular solutions for both today's computer rooms and for new future designs of data centres."

Data centres are increasingly called upon to offer higher availability, scalability and quick deployment all the while operating at a lower cost.

"In addition to our current global partnerships with leading IT vendors, the partnership with APC-MGE allows Dimension Data to offer our customers the best of breed for critical power and cooling solutions," says Shaw.

Overall, the partnership will assist customers in obtaining secured power and IT infrastructure uptime and manage lower operating costs.

"We wish to congratulate Dimension Data on achieving APC-MGE Gold Certified Partner status," says Rodney Callaghan, managing director for southern Africa at APC-MGE. "Dimension Data joins an elite group of firms that have proven competency in delivering APC's InfraStruXure solutions quickly and efficiently."

APC's InfraStruXure is on-demand architecture for physical infrastructure. The design integrates power, cooling, rack, management, environmental and security monitoring; and services. It allows the selection of standardised components to create a data centre solution through modular and mobile configurations. This standardisation provides an easily scalable architecture designed to meet changing needs and future expansion. The InfraStruXure approach provides increased availability, improved adaptability and speed of deployment as well as lower total cost of ownership for IT environments.

"It is extremely gratifying to see our channel partners like Dimension Data embrace APC-MGE as an essential part of their customer offerings," Callaghan adds.

"By carefully selecting our business partners, we are able to deliver on leading edge technology at the best possible prices," Shaw concludes. "We are not product specific, but rather solution driven."
