Dimension Data has expanded its business partnership agreement with local distributor AmVia to include the EmailXtender family of products from specialist storage vendor Legato Systems. The company already has a strong relationship with storage giant EMC, which owns Legato Systems, and EmailXtender was a natural progression of the partnerships it holds with both companies.
Fitting neatly into its core offerings of business information delivery, AmVia holds the exclusive distribution rights for the e-mail and active archiving products from Legato. The EmailXtender technologies provide enterprise data storage as well as content management for electronic messaging.
By following a comprehensive, policy-based system that automatically collects, organises, retains and retrieves e-mail messages and attachments, the range is well placed to enable easier use and administration of enterprise e-mail, while ensuring compliance with the local Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Act.
Jason Goodall, executive director at Dimension Data, says the Legato technologies underwent stringent testing and evaluation before the company opted to add them to its solution mix. "EmailXtender now plays a pivotal role in our application network solutions model. With the addition of our expertise and extensive product ranges, we are better positioned to provide the high availability solutions required by our client base," he says.
AmVia managing director Kevin Hurwitz says Dimension Data has shown high levels of commitment to the product range. "Dimension Data was so impressed with the capabilities of Legato`s software that it has even implemented the technology at its head office in Bryanston, Johannesburg, to improve its archiving and retrieval systems," he explains.
Furthermore, Hurwitz notes that the company has made strong investments in training its team to reach optimal levels of accreditation on the Legato product range.
AmVia, in turn, is supporting its accredited partners with lead generation and sales assistance which includes customer-centric ROI projections.
"Extending our relationship with Dimension Data to include the Legato range is a very important step for AmVia. Dimension Data has a solid foothold into the local market, which enables us to get to market quicker with the Legato product sets," he says.
With e-mail comprising approximately 90% of communication in and out of a company, the partnership is set to impact strongly in Dimension Data`s key areas of the enterprise and government sectors; producing measurable returns, increased efficiency and optimal storage usage.
