The Oki brand is on the rise in South Africa. The latest Quarterly Printer Market Tracker from research company BMI-TechKnowledge shows that Oki printers have continued showing steady growth, notching up gains in multiple segments of the market.
"These gains in sales and revenues are due to a combination of factors, including the technical leadership of Oki printers as well as the collaboration between Printacom and our channel partners," says Neil Rom, MD of Printacom, official Oki representative in South Africa.
"Our direct marketing, indirect sales strategy allows Printacom to interface directly with corporate customers to ensure a best fit for all Oki products, while our channel partners focus on delivery and service," adds Rom. "We match the right printing technology to the appropriate situation. This provides customers with a solution that not only meets their needs, but will continue doing so with optimum efficiency over the life of the printer."
Oki is ahead of its competitors in terms of printing technology as it is the only printer manufacturer that designs and develops its own components. Yet, technical advantages only provide limited benefits for users if not supported by skills and service. Printacom has made inroads in this area as well.
"We have enhanced our channel`s ability to sell through improved training and product awareness exercises and these efforts have started showing results," adds Rom. "Additionally, Printacom has also appointed various service partners around the country to provide maintenance and repair work for Oki, both in and out of warranty. Currently the company has a total of 75 channel partners nationwide, including a growing number of black empowerment partners."
While Oki already has the technical advantage, the company`s continuing innovations support its goal of delivering dependable, high-quality, yet cost-effective printers across the corporate landscape. In South Africa, customers have found Oki to be reliable printers that deliver the goods, backed by a strong support infrastructure, which is the driving force behind Oki`s growth.
As a division of the MB Technologies Group, Printacom is the sole importer of the Oki range of printers to the South African reseller channel.
With Oki ranked among the top three printer brands worldwide, Printacom focuses on offering high-end internationally recognised business printing solutions to corporate companies. It is this performance and reliability that attracts 60% of the market share in the high-end dot matrix market in South Africa.
Oki has achieved many local channel accolades over the past months, these include: - Channel Champion 2002, Okipage 14ex Editors Choice award and the Lab`s Choice award for colour.
