Long time Meissner customer, Discovery Health, has purchased four 160kW UPS` (Uninterruptible Power Supply) from Meissner Power Systems to backup its Sandton-based IS systems.
Paul Ashworth, product manager at local UPS vendor, Meissner, says that the units will provide backup power for the mainframes and servers housed at the company`s new computer center.
"Discovery Health has a nation-wide WAN infrastructure it needs to support 24x7x365. These UPS` with their benefits are generator friendly characteristics, and small footprint are particularly suited to the environment they will be operating in," he says.
In addition, Ashworth says that the operational savings stemming from the impending installation will see Discovery Health saving in the region of R70 000 per annum.
