Discovery Health has awarded specialist data storage solutions company, Smart Storage Technologies (SmartStor) with a R250 000 project to implement VERITAS' Backup Exec.
Tony Life, executive director of SmartStor explains that the implementation will roll out to all of the organisation's franchises nation-wide. "This follows closely on Discovery Health's decision to implement an ADIC Scalar 1000 tape library and forms part of the organisation's strategy to improve its back-up and data access procedures, resulting in the continued delivery of quality service to its members."
Says Patrice Bouic, deputy GM for the IT Infrastructure at Discovery: "SmartStor is ideally positioned to assist us in meeting our data storage availability needs. With their assistance, we have embarked on an aggressive rollout strategy to ensure improved data protection and speedier retrieval.
"It is key for Discovery to further protect our IT investment using a reliable and secure backup solution. The rollout of VERITAS Backup Exec to our franchises will ensure data is both readily available and secure," he adds.
