Accfin Software, a South African company that specialises in accounting applications, has released a tailored ,business-to-business e-commerce solution that integrates with existing accounting systems.

Shop 2000, is especially suited to distributors who would like to provide on-line ordering facilities to their dealers, says Mark Silberman, MD of Accfin Software.

The application is able to interface directly to most commercial accounting packages, thereby streamlining the entire transaction process.

Silberman says that although the application has been developed especially for companies who have a large distribution network, rather than retail sector of e-commerce, it can still be used for those wishing to set up shops on the Internet.

The system is hosted on a secure web site and will permit customers to view products, place orders and obtain prices without having to go through the laborious process of phoning for information and then having to wait for it to be faxed.

Once the order has been placed, Shop 2000 will automatically generate the picking slip, confirm the shipment via email, debit the customers account and update the stock information.

In addition to providing a complete web consulting service, Accfin Software will also extend bureau services to companies not wanting to get involved with developing or maintaining a web site.

Users can gain a competitive advantage by Web-enabling the systems that are shared with strategic business partners. This will allow the supply chain to move faster, resulting in quicker turnaround times.

Adopting an e-commerce strategy holds a huge potential for companies seeking gains in productivity and cost savings, concludes Silberman.
