Distribution partnership adds value to local storage market

The need to safeguard data and comply with legislation governing archiving and data processing and risk management is driving growth within storage.

Wayne Britz, a director at Annex Distribution, says vendors and service providers are obliged to play 'catch up' with the market in order to keep up with the rate of infrastructure adoption and utilisation.

Annex Distribution is an official distributor of Samsung desktop hard drives. The company is a supplier of essential technology 'building blocks' to the ICT industry, and is positioned to add value to investors within the hard drive infrastructure space.

"Data is the most valuable asset in business today. That, in itself, has forced businesses to review the way they store information and how secure and effective this is in terms of daily operation," says Britz. "The past practice of spreading data at random and trying to match hard drive space on the file server to adequately manage data is long gone. Storage resource management, strategic allocation of areas, integration of storage devices and virtualisation now define this much publicised area of ICT."

The Annex/Samsung partnership has provided a secure platform through which the distribution company continues to supply hard drives and aggressively engage the distribution channel to meet a significantly high demand from the market.

Britz also points to the introduction and enforcement of legislation and its impact on corporate SA.

"Compliance with regulation, together with the overall need to store information and run increasingly sophisticated, multi-media applications is affecting the business approach to ICT investment, and storage is at the top of the list of priorities," he says.
