PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management providing an easily tailored and scaleable method for the management of all types of projects. The method is practised worldwide, and growing exponentially. Private and public sector organisations are using the method from the USA to Russia, and more recently exams have been written in Vietnam, Libya, Thailand and Mozambique. Of course, South Africa has been using PRINCE2 with increasing enthusiasm since 2002.
The continued international development of PRINCE2 examinations, training and course material is contributing significantly to the recognition of PRINCE2 as a truly international standard. More and more people are having the opportunity to benefit from the training courses and qualifications that are available worldwide.
This has led to an increasing demand for accredited, highly qualified and experienced PRINCE2 trainers, especially in South Africa.
But becoming an accredited PRINCE2 trainer is a demanding, expensive and institutionally exhausting process, where both the training company and the potential trainer have to conform to the rigorous quality criteria as laid down by the APMGroup. It cannot be done without the support of an already accredited PRINCE2 training organisation (ATO). For this reason, many prospective trainers were forced to attempt their accreditation by working through overseas organisations, with additional costs and distant support structures.
Snap-Tech (Pty) Ltd, currently the only South African organisation accredited to provide PRINCE2 training and consulting, now offers entrepreneurial and qualified project management professionals and organisations an opportunity to become accredited PRINCE2 trainers.
With five years' international and local experience in PRINCE2 and Programme Management (MSP) training, Snap-Tech has developed a team of local trainers, with Kabelo Reid becoming the latest accredited trainer in Snap-Tech. Snap-Tech's lead trainer and MD, Guy Eastoe, has developed a train the trainer programme that covers content, quality and stylistic approaches to PRINCE2 training. The programme approach is intense and covers the entire syllabus of PRINCE2, plus the APMGroup's quality criteria and trainer application requirements.
In addition, Snap-Tech has developed an affiliate programme, which will help trainers and their organisations to provide accredited training and international exams.
Comments Eastoe: "One of the great attributes of the APMGroup's training accreditation process is the focus on quality, not just of the training material, but also of the trainers, the supporting training organisations themselves, and the exam disciplines."
