DreamWorks Animation looks to HP for Its next-generation networking infrastructure

HP Networking technology to improve data centre performance, support demanding business environment.

Johannesburg, 28 Jun 2010

HP recently announced that DreamWorks Animation SKG (Nasdaq: DWA) has selected HP Networking solutions to improve data centre infrastructure performance and reliability to help bring the company's award-winning films, such as "Shrek", to life.

DreamWorks rigorously tested the full range of HP Networking products, including the enterprise HP A12500 (H3C S12500) data centre switch, when reviewing the products it needed to update and refresh its existing network infrastructure. Upon conclusion, DreamWorks determined that HP's advanced networking technology could help it to reduce network complexity, achieve increased port capacity, and significantly reduce power consumption and costs.

Key to DreamWorks' implementation is the HP Intelligent Management Centre (IMC) (3Com IMC), which enables single-pane-of-glass management across a multivendor networking infrastructure. HP IMC is expected to ease network management throughout DreamWorks' data centre migration and simplify the management of its expanding network as the business grows.

"Based on our testing, HP networking solutions have proven to be the best option for our increasing scale and global demands," said Derek Chan, head of Digital Operations, DreamWorks. "We're pursuing an aggressive path toward leveraging HP's new A-series offerings at both the edge and the core of our data centre. This will enable us to effectively keep pace with the demanding growth of our business, critical to getting our innovative digital imagery to market."

The new HP Networking products, combined with the HP ProLiant blade servers, storage and that DreamWorks already relies on, deliver a powerful and flexible infrastructure technology that enables the company to easily scale up - and down - as projects require. Plus, the power of HP Converged Infrastructure architecture helps DreamWorks maintain a competitive edge while reducing infrastructure complexities and cost.
