DSi sells 170 000 units
The Nintendo DSi, the latest edition of the Japanese company's handheld gaming device, sold over 170 779 units in Japan over the course of its first two days on sale, says IGN.
The DSi went on sale last Saturday to much fanfare during the start of a three-day holiday weekend in Japan. The unit carried a retail price of yen16 800 ($165).
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told investors that 200 000 units were shipped out for the launch. It has been reported that the Tokyo area is almost completely sold out of units, with the small leftover 30 000 expected to sell quickly, completely selling out the first release of the DSi.
HP drops price on gaming rigs
HP has recently dropped the prices on two of its products, including the Envy 133 from its Voodoo PC line, and the HP Blackbird 002 gaming desktop PC, states Electronista.
Both computers are now $200 less expensive, with the Envy 133 now priced at $1 899 and the Blackbird 002 at $1 799. Those who order the Envy 133 will get a second battery for the notebook free of charge.
The entry-level Envy 133 includes Windows Vista Business 32-bit loaded onto its 80GB, 4200RPM hard disk drive, along with a 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM, while the Blackbird 002 is air-cooled and has a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 2GB of RAM.
MS unveils gaming keyboard
Microsoft has released its first gaming keyboard, the SideWinder X6, states Hardware Zone.
Mode switching lets gamers manually toggle the keyboard from standard mode to either of two gaming modes, and a cruise control feature continues an action without having to hold down any keys.
The X6 keyboard also includes two-colour adjustable backlighting, controlled by a dial on the keyboard to offer fine-tuning of the gaming experience.
