The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is calling for IT and financial services companies to participate in a three-day networking event in Accra, Ghana.
The conference, called "Bridges Across Borders", will take place from 7 to 9 November and is expected to see 120 participants from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and SA.
The event is being organised by the International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO in collaboration with the South African DTI, and aims to foster outsourcing partnerships in the financial services and IT sectors.
These two sub-sectors have been identified as having the greatest opportunity for cross-border co-operation and development.
Service has become a key contribution to African economies towards employment and economic growth and improving efficiencies within a country's service sector. These have critical impact on overall economic integration, explains the DTI.
According to a press release, the event is structured to cover outsourcing opportunities and supply capacity in a one-day conference format. The remaining days will focus on one sector per day and participants will have an opportunity to meet one another in prescheduled bilateral meetings.
Participation in the event is free of charge, except for travel and accommodation costs. Certain participants that meet the relevant criteria may be able to qualify for financial assistance.
