Dynamic Web tech suit filed
A patent-holding company has sued Microsoft for patent infringement for technology used in dynamic Web pages, reports PC World.
Parallel Networks filed suit in the US district court for the eastern district of Texas over two patents, US Patent numbers 5 894 554 and 6 415 335 B1.
The company was granted the patents in 1999 and 2002, respectively, according to the court filing.
Patent-violation claims rejected
Nvidia says the US Patent and Trademark Office has rejected all 41 claims by Rambus in connection with Rambus' patent infringement lawsuit against Nvidia, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The claims stem from a complaint filed by Rambus in November alleging Nvidia violated seven patents on memory controllers related to graphics processors.
Rambus, a Silicon Valley company known for engaging in court battles, sought an order barring importation and sale of Nvidia products that it says infringed on those seven patents as well as two others.
Netbook suit settled
Psion and Intel have settled their legal battle over the use of the word 'netbook', according to ZDNet.
Since early 2008, Intel has been using the term to refer to small, cheap, low-powered subnotebooks, and the chipmaker's Atom chipset has become by far the most popular engine for such machines.
However, the British PDA maker Psion registered a trademark for 'netbook' in a filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office in 1996.
