E-mail without a trace

Void Communications, the makers of VaporStream, a Web-based messaging system, have come up with a confidential alternative to e-mail and instant messaging that leaves no records after the message is read, reports CNN Money.

The e-mail sender uses the encrypted VaporStream home page to send a message, which disappears from the computer once sent. It is temporarily stored in the VaporStream server.

The recipient cannot copy, paste, forward, save or print the message, and when the message is responded to, the original message disappears entirely.

Blocks for VOIP, messaging, P2P introduced

Sophos is moving into general desktop management and has started by adding optional application blocking to its existing anti-virus product, reports ITPro.

It also blocks 20 peer to peer file sharing applications including Grokster, Kazaa, Overnet and BitTorrent.

Tech unites the family structure

A study conducted by Yahoo and media communications firm OMD has found that globally, families are using modern technology to help busy lives and reinforce what could be seen as "traditional" values, reports Trends.

The survey looked at more than 4 500 families and found the average global family owns 11 technological devices, with 70% of global respondents stating they use technology to stay in touch with their family, the report says.

It also found that families` lives are jam-packed with activity, with the average US family listing more than 43 hours of daily activities, it says.

Postfuture Enterprise 5 released

Harte-Hanks has launched Postfuture Enterprise Edition 5.0, the latest version of its Postfuture e-mail messaging platform, reports BtoBOnline.

Enhancements to the product include new e-mail testing functions, analytics and behaviour-based targeting, the report says.

E-mail testing will now include automated A/B testing that will enable marketers to create two or more e-mail versions, send them out to portions of a list, track the response during a test period and then send a composite of the best subject line and message copy to the remainder of the list, it says.
