EasCorp selects Unisys as single-source solution for image-based payment processing operations

Unisys Corporation today announced that EasCorp, a Massachusetts-based corporate credit union, has selected the Unisys VisualImpact solution and two Unisys NDP 1150 document transports to streamline its processing of checks and other documents.

VisualImpact is a dynamic suite of integrated item and image processing software that can handle processing for a range of enterprises, from community financial institutions to large-volume commercial banks. VisualImpact`s advanced-function applications can be used in traditional or image-enabled payment processing environments. The solution runs in a Microsoft Windows NT operating environment and can process up to 1 million prime pass items per day.

EasCorp, which serves more than 270 credit unions throughout New England, was the first corporate credit union to embrace check-imaging technology, enabling credit unions of any size to produce share draft image statements online via the Internet.

"When we began investigating replacement of our existing check processing solution, we knew that we wanted a vendor that could provide a complete solution," said Phil Richards, executive vice president of EasCorp. , "Other vendors had a software solution, or a hardware solution, but Unisys offered a true, single-source solution, including services and project management."

VisualImpact`s features include virtual capture, which enables the implementation of a single-pass image capture instead of a multi-pass environment. EasCorp will now receive its Federal Reserve inclearings in electronic format on prime pass, making the data immediately available for account reconciliation and reporting purposes. Visual Impact also will enable EasCorp to image capture other documents during prime pass. Currently, images of these documents can only be obtained in a separate capture pass on a different transport.

In addition, with VisualImpact, routing and transit numbers are now part of the bulk sort file, enabling cycle sort and exception pull in a commingled environment.
