Ebtech (Pty) Ltd, local distributor of BPCS, a SSA Global Technology ERP solution, today announced the immediate availability of BPCS V8.1.00.
"BPCS V8.1.00 was built on the strong foundation of Version 8.0, released in June 2001. A major enhancement, among others, included in this version is the expanded field sizes that will benefit our clients in all vertical markets," said Jerome Chalice, Group Managing Director of Ebtech.
"The expanded field sizes represents the first phase in SSA GT`s harmonisation project called 'Codification`," said Michael Greenough, president, chairman and chief executive officer of SSA GT in Global Technologies` latest press release.
He further said that in this first phase, SSA GT would provide field extensions to help clients seeking standardised naming conventions for customers, suppliers and products. The harmonisation project would lay the foundation for future enhancements to support complex shared services environments. Content for the next phase of this project would be announced in October at the SSA GT Global Client Forum in Las Vegas.
Chalice stated that the additional enhancements to BPCS V8.1.00 would include the following:
* Configurable Enterprise Accounting (CEA) rewrites - expands CEA application availability to all three user interfaces - AS/400 Mixed Mode, client/server and Web interface. This enhancement is the final stage in fully Web-enabling BPCS, which will allow clients to deploy all aspects of BPCS via the Internet.
* Added Outbound Logistics Management (OLM) functionality - also available in all three user interfaces - AS/400 Mixed Mode, client/server and web interface. Includes manual load creation, document printing based on a range of documents, automatic load generation based on load rules and load dispatch.
* Uplift in Semantic Message Gateways (SMG) - allows clients to use the current gateways with BPCS V8.1.00.
* Support for Windows XP - allows clients to install and run on computers running Windows XP Professional. Therefore, companies preferring to switch their Windows platform to XP will be able to install and run BPCS.
BPCS V8.1.00 is currently available to clients in the following languages: English, French, Italian, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese - (Double Byte), Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
