ECM sees massive growth

Global research firm, Gartner's 2011 Magic Quadrant for the enterprise content management (ECM) industry confirms the content management landscape is changing rapidly, CMS Wire reports.

While IT budgets are under pressure, Gartner reveals that growth continues in the ECM market.

In 2009, the ECM market grew by 5.1%; in 2010, it grew another 7.6% and was worth $3.9 billion; and Gartner estimates this growth will continue at a compound rate of 11.4% through 2015.

According to RealWire, Gartner's Magic Quadrant is a graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period.

It depicts Gartner's analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace, as defined by Gartner.

"ECM is growing for a reason - it's very relevant to helping today's organisations meet their productivity goals. But we believe the most effective ECM solutions are more than just relevant. They promote the meaningful use of content throughout an organisation, and do so with a balance of focus and flexibility," says AJ Hyland, president and CEO for Hyland Software, in a Sacramento Bee report.

Hyland Software was named a leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for ECM.
