EDS selected for Hong Kong SAR government contract

Johannesburg, 02 Oct 2003

EDS has announced it has been awarded a contract to implement a Public Works Programme Information System (PWPIS) for the Environment, Transport and Works Bureau (ETWB) of the Hong Kong SAR government.

The system will enable timely and efficient coordination and sharing of Public Works Programme information throughout the ETWB, which includes approximately 900 users across six works departments as well as other policy secretaries and user departments.

Under the agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, EDS will provide a best-of-breed solution utilising a customised data warehouse application to consolidate information and data from the various departments.

A flexible Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) tool will be used to provide multi-dimensional views of the data to meet the diverse needs of the ETWB. A comprehensive suite of user-friendly data analysis tools will be provided to streamline the production of management and statistics-based reports to help improve process and project management efficiency and lower IT related costs to the department.

"We`re very pleased to continue our relationship with the Hong Kong SAR government, a relationship that has spanned more than 10 years and includes 180 IT-related projects with various government departments, including the ETWB," said Jay Davis, president, EDS Asia and Japan.

"Through the implementation of this new system for the ETWB, we look forward to supporting the government in its endeavour to enhance the management of the Public Works Programme and the efficient monitoring of its public works projects."
