eduArtec launched

Johannesburg, 18 Jun 2002

Artec Computer Systems today announced that it had launched its education-focused subsidiary eduArtec, which is headed up by Andrew Tucker, the founder and CEO of Artec Computer Systems.

EduArtec will market, sell, support and maintain its Scadsys "School Administration System" and an outcome-based education (OBE) software "ReportCard 2000" application solution for schools. These solutions are appropriate to both private and public schools from pre-primary levels through to secondary establishments.

Locally developed Scadsys, which has been in operation since 1996, is an administration solution that covers all aspects of administration, ie finance management, timetabling, media centres, to name a few; while OBE ReportCard 2000 is an Australian developed package from ARC Research and Development that is able to provide a reporting capability for both teachers and students that meets government reporting requirements. It is far superior to non-outcomes-based reporting systems as it offers the most comprehensive reporting tool, with modules for customised student reporting, that will reduce teachers workload up to 100 hours per annum.

Both these solutions are modular in design and functionality, and can be utilised together or separately, even at the entry level. ReportCard 2000 can also be integrated with other school administrative systems.

"We are very excited about this new initiative, and from the feedback we have already received from our current installations, we anticipate a high demand for these solutions across the whole country, since ReportCard 2000 specifically, is extremely easy to use. We already have over 10 installations operational within the Gauteng area, including schools such as Bryanpark Primary Bryanston High and Fourways High," commented Tucker.

Artec Computer Systems has the sole distribution rights for ReportCard 2000 in SA, UK and the US.
