EHDF optimises infrastructure costs

eHosting DataFort (EHDF) says it has cut down and optimised infrastructure and communication costs for French corporate and private banker Societe Generale's branches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh and Bahrain, according to AMEinfo.

The company is providing a disaster recovery (DR) site to Societe Generale serving all their regional branches. In case of any disaster, the users at these branches can connect remotely to the DR site that maintains a continuous backup of the data disaster.

Yasser Zeineldin, CEO at eHDF says: "Data remains the crucial factor for any financial organisation and over the past few years investments and business focus have moved not only towards the and back-up of confidential data, but also towards disaster recovery planning and implementation.

Oracle intros 'breakthrough' apps

Oracle has introduced a number of what it calls 'breakthrough applications' as it looks to gain market leadership in the regional enterprise software sector, reports ITP.

The expansion of the company's portfolio follows the recent Middle East integration of the Sun Microsystems business, which the vendor says provides it with the technology to offer a fully integrated stack of systems, from application to disk.

Headlining its set of product unveiling is the Exadata Database Machine, a system that is said to provide performance for both data warehousing and online transaction processing applications, according to the company.

VMware unveils cloud pricing model

VMware says it is simplifying the pricing model for service providers looking to leverage its vCloud platform to build cloud services, writes CRN

The enhancements to the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), comes during a time of fast growth in the program, says Geoff Waters, director of VSPP. There are currently 2 900 service providers working with VSPP, 145% more than 12 months ago.

"The bulk of these offer multi-tenant services to their customers," Waters says. "VSPP allows enterprises and SMEs to access public clouds from our partners, and combine them with private clouds into hybrid clouds."
