According to a Google blog posting by David Garcia, a Google software engineer, the beta version is available as a free download for users who have a PC that runs Google Desktop and a UPnP-enabled device, such as a PlayStation 3. The gadget provides access to Picasa Web Albums and favourite YouTube videos.
Since its launch last week, Google Media Server has been met with curiosity regarding Google's motivation. In addition, frustrated blog posters have complained about various problems involving downloads and file access.
