Embarcadero ETL embraces legacy data through OEM agreement with Striva

Johannesburg, 28 Jan 2003

Embarcadero Technologies has announced a strategic OEM relationship with Striva Corporation, a leader in enterprise data integration software products.

Embarcadero`s extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) tool, DT/Studio, will now span the enterprise from relational sources running on Unix and Windows platforms to non-relational legacy data on the mainframe. The challenges involved in accessing legacy data are well documented: it has been estimated that as much as 80% of the world`s data still resides on mainframes.

To ease the process of data integration across multiple platforms, Embarcadero will license and resell Striva DETAIL Bulk, DETAIL Change and DETAIL Live with DT/Studio in a combined solution called DT/Connect Mainframe. DT/Connect Mainframe will provide Embarcadero`s customers with a single-vendor solution for all their ETL requirements, including access to legacy formats.

"Legacy data remains a very important aspect of IT strategy for many companies, and Embarcadero now offers transparent access to non-relational legacy data," says Alan Raubenheimer, CEO of Embarcadero Africa. "This will provide unparalleled ease of use, power and flexibility while significantly easing the difficulty of integrating legacy data on the mainframe with relational sources."

"Embarcadero`s agreement to license and resell Striva`s mainframe connectors provides a much-needed bridge between the mainframe and relational data," says Paul Bach, president of Striva. "With its easy, non-intrusive installation, DT/Connect Mainframe delivers improved efficiency and accessibility for IT organisations that need to integrate or migrate data in disparate sources."

DT/Connect Mainframe supports Oracle, IBM DB2, Sybase ASE, Microsoft SQL Server and Informix databases, along with most major mainframe platforms, including IMS/TM, IMS/DB and CICS.

California-based Striva is an industry leader in real-time enterprise integration and B2B infrastructure. Its Global 2000 customers include American Express, BAE Systems, BlueCross/BlueShield, Boeing, DaimlerChrysler, Internal Revenue Service, JPMorganChase, Lockheed Martin, Toyota and the US Department of Defense.
