EMC has announced EMC AutoAdvice, a subscription-based software that provides customers with Web-based access to customised analysis of performance and resource utilisation across their applications, servers, databases and storage systems.
Alex Robertson, Technology Solutions Group Manager, EMC SA, says that by using AutoAdvice, customers can more quickly isolate current problems, identify future trouble spots, and receive expert analysis and best-practices gained from EMC`s aggregated experience with thousands of real-world customer scenarios.
"A member of the new online EMC ControlCenter management capabilities, AutoAdvice provides customers with direct, Web-based access to EMC`s global repository of information management knowledge," he says.
AutoAdvice provides an effective and automated way to better manage the proliferation of servers and the growing complexity of IT infrastructure. It expands the ControlCenter reporting and monitoring capabilities up to servers, databases and applications, eliminating repetitive manual tasks and automatically turning raw system metrics into expert advice. AutoAdvice isolates emerging performance trends before they impact operations and delivers expert analysis that are specific to the customer`s environment.
Through AutoAdvice, system metrics are automatically collected for Windows, UNIX and Linux servers and operating systems; Oracle and SQL server databases; and Exchange and SAP applications.
"AutoAdvice aggregates the collected metrics, analyses them against EMC`s repository of accumulated knowledge, and automatically returns to the customer expert information that can be applied to consolidation efforts, root cause analysis and performance trending," says Robertson.
Additionally, AutoAdvice delivers early warnings about potential performance and capacity problems, enabling IT managers to gain tighter control over their operations, make more informed resource decisions and reduce unplanned downtime.
