EMC, major customers and independent analysts have demonstrated compelling proof behind EMC`s status as a leader in lowering total cost of ownership (TCO), a critically important priority for organisations faced with managing rapidly increasing volumes of information.
According to new, independent research from IDC, the major drivers for storage cost have moved beyond the traditional disk hardware costs to encompass personnel, management and business opportunity cost. IDC found that customers that implement EMC information storage infrastructure experience as much as a 9:1 reduction in storage management labour cost and 90 percent storage capacity utilisation (a 40-50 percent increase) compared with competitive offerings.
Beyond these crucial cost metrics, IDC also found that companies repeatedly linked their EMC relationship directly to their ability to execute their business model, create new services quickly, gain competitive advantage, speed global deployment, test and quickly bring to market new applications, and re-deploy talented staff to drive product and service differentiation. Patrick Ricaud, country manager of EMC SA, says, "This new IDC research and other findings validate how EMC continues to make it easier and more affordable for customers to convert EMC`s focused investments in storage infrastructure into tangible value for their businesses.
"EMC eliminates the predicament customers experience when forced to choose between strategic business value and short-term savings on incomplete solutions with hidden cost burdens. Customers are struggling to do more with less while driving greater business value through IT investments. EMC continues to help them turn this struggle into opportunity and success."
As the costs of implementing and managing complex storage solutions become more heavily weighted in people, integration and operational expenses, the EMC E-Infostructure has become the defining characteristic for successful IT operations. EMC customers are realising both immediate and long-term financial returns for their investment in EMC solutions, while positioning themselves to capitalise on new opportunities and business growth.
"An architectural approach to storage design allows EMC to rapidly and smoothly incorporate technology advances that deliver higher densities, lower costs and increased functionality. This consistent architecture has enabled EMC, on a regular basis, to lower storage platform costs while delivering advanced capabilities that control personnel and operational costs," Ricaud says.
EMC Corporation is the world leader in information storage systems, software, networks and services, providing the information infrastructure for a connected world. Information about EMC`s products and services can be found at www.EMC.com.
