EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, today announced that users at Storage World Conference 2005 have selected the EMC Centera content addressed storage (CAS) system as the Most Valuable Product (MVP) in the Compliance and Retention category for a second consecutive year.
The MVP Awards Programme, sponsored by InfoStor magazine and the Association of Storage Networking Professionals (ASNP), recognises the "best of the best" of storage networking products in the industry. This is the onlyindustry awards programme where the winners are chosen solely by end-users.
"InfoStor congratulates EMC on winning the Most Valuable Product award in the Compliance and Retention category," said Dave Simpson, Editor-in-Chief of InfoStor magazine. "It`s important to note that the winners were determined by votes cast by 22 800 InfoStor readers and more than 2 000 members of the ASNP - all of whom are end-users - based on their own stringent criteria."
Used by companies and organisations worldwide, EMC Centera is the first storage solution designed from the ground up to solve the challenges associated with managing, storing and retrieving unchanging data such as document images, e-mail, x-rays and medical records. Since its introduction in 2002, Centera has become EMC`s fastest-growing storage platform and has earned industry-wide recognition as an online archival storage medium capable of delivering content authenticity and scaling to hundreds of terabytes without requiring additional management overhead.
Centera has become a key component of customers` information lifecycle management (ILM) initiatives. Its unique functionality, self-healing capability and rich set of integrated independent software application offerings make it the ideal platform for customers of all sizes to use as an enterprise archive for their corporate-wide digital assets.
"Compliance and retention are two areas of focus for EMC Centera, and we`re honoured to be recognised with such a prestigious award that acknowledges our innovation," said Roy Sanford, Vice-President of Content Addressed Storage at EMC. "Good governance initiatives around e-mail archiving, mainframe and document management are other major reasons customers turn to EMC Centera as their unified archive for enterprise-wide fixed content."
The ASNP`s mission is "to build a worldwide community of storage networking users and to provide members with valuable educational programmes and professional development opportunities." ASNP provides an open forum for members to discuss real-world problems and solutions related to storage networking. Through its regional chapters, annual meeting and online portal, ASNP offers extensive training and professional-development opportunities.
