EMC is continuing its campaign to drive the next-generation CLARiiON CX series of networked storage systems to a broader range of customers with the introduction of its CX200.
"EMC has combined a new entry-level price point with the wealth of CLARiiON value," says Alex Robertson, country systems engineering and professional services manager, EMC SA. "The CX200 is optimised for those organisations needing the most cost-effective storage system with a high-availability features and reliable management software."
As the third member of the CLARiiON CX series, the CX200 shares a common architecture, components, management software and FLARE operating environment with the CLARiiON CX600 and CLARiiON CX400, providing unmatched continuity and investment protection.
The CLARiiON CX series offers a full range of networked storage options, while maximising customer value and flexibility through a single deployment model, unified storage management strategy, common architecture and end-to-end upgrade path - preserving customer investments in hardware, software, training and processes.
"In addition, the CX200 provides a powerful upgrade path through a compact and innovative modular design," says Robertson. "As application or consolidation requirements expand, customers can leverage CLARiiON`s modularity and common reusable components to upgrade, through a storage processor swap, with data-in-place, to the CX400 or CX600 networked storage systems."
The CX200 offers the added benefit of being wholly embraced by EMCs AutoIS strategy and brings customers even greater value from simple, automated and open management through products such as PowerPath channel fail over and intelligent path management as well as the EMC ControlCenter family of applications like Navisphere and StorageScope.
"EMC has also announced tailored versions of its popular Navisphere and PowerPath software suited specifically for CX200 requirements," adds Robertson.
Navisphere Base manages a single CX200 system and customers can easily upgrade to a full Navisphere license to manage multiple CLARiiON arrays. PowerPath Base offers path fail over, and as functionality needs increase, customers can upgrade to a full PowerPath licence with advanced load balancing and channel optimisation.
