EMC has rolled out a storage platform that virtualises data centre storage in different locations within a single facility, reports ZDNet.
The platform, called VPlex, creates a single large virtual data centre within the private cloud.
EMC chief Joe Tucci says this private cloud infrastructure, combined with EMC's partnership with Brocade, is the answer for CIOs looking to manage corporate data across multiple locations and to drive down IT maintenance costs.

Adaptec is selling its RAID channel storage business to PMC-Sierra for $34 million, states Channel Register.
Adaptec indicates it will deploy the proceeds of the sale, including stock buybacks, special cash dividends, future acquisitions and other actions to redeploy capital.
Greg Lang, PMC-Sierra's president and CEO, says: "I am excited about this acquisition and the future growth opportunities it presents through the strong strategic fit between our core strengths in enterprise storage and the established channel storage business of Adaptec."
