EMC and Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC) have announced that EMC will resell ADIC Scalar tape libraries to expand its information lifecycle management (ILM) portfolio. ADIC, in turn, will resell EMC CLARiiON CX networked storage as part of its Pathlight VX virtual tape solution.
EMC will offer ADIC`s automated tape libraries, including the ADIC Scalar 24, Scalar 100, Scalar i2000 and Scalar 10K models with LTO tape drive technology.
"EMC continues to showcase its commitment to providing customers with the broadest and deepest set of capabilities across the industry`s widest range of tiered storage offerings," says Alex Robertson, Technology Solutions Manager, EMC SA. "By selecting ADIC as its partner, EMC now provides customers the option of a tape solution for nearline storage and offsite vaulting, completing the final tier of storage in an ILM strategy."
Christo Briedenhann, ADIC territory manager for the MEA region, says IT departments can now source a complete range of storage solutions to support their growing data protection and ILM needs, while ensuring the highest overall system reliability and performance along with the lowest long-term TCO.
"Together, EMC and ADIC offer a combination of performance and value, bringing together proven technologies to solve our customers` data storage problems in innovative ways," he says.
The ADIC Scalar library family features include integrated SAN support, intelligent monitoring and alerting functions, capacity-on-demand scalability, and options for full redundant robotics and controllers for high availability operations.
Pathlight VX combines disk and tape in a single integrated system, providing twice the backup and restore performance of conventional systems without requiring that users change their existing data-protection procedures.
Adding ADIC tape solutions complement and expand EMC`s tiered storage offerings which include Symmetrix DMX for high-end storage, CLARiiON for mid-tier storage and low cost solutions and the latest addition to the CLARiiON family, the AX100 based on ATA technology.
CLARiiON with ATA and CLARiiON Disk Library deliver backup-to-disk capabilities, while Centera Content Addressed Storage (CAS) delivers active archiving with the highest levels of compliance and retention. EMC`s Connectrix and Celerra provide flexible connectivity for customer`s SAN and NAS networked storage environments.
EMC Corporation is the world leader in information storage systems, software, networks and services, providing automated networked storage solutions to help organisations extract the maximum value from their information, at the lowest total cost, across every point in the information lifecycle.
