EMC has announced a wave of major new systems and software innovations across the entire line-up of EMC tiered storage platforms spanning high-end, mid-tier, network-attached storage (NAS) and content addressed storage (CAS).
"The simultaneous launch of new Symmetrix DMX, CLARiiON CX, Celerra and Centera systems and software represent EMC`s most extensive storage platforms launch in its history," says Alex Robertson, Technology Solutions Group Manager, EMC SA.
The announcements highlight the full breadth and depth of EMC`s capabilities across the industry`s widest range of storage platforms. They include the Symmetrix DMX systems equipped with the new DMX-2 technology, which offer up to 30 percent more performance than identically configured Symmetrix DMX systems using the current-generation directors.
The entire new line of next-generation CLARiiON CX300, CX500 and CX700 systems offers customers higher performance at the same price as previous models and affordable replication options while maintaining superior investment protection capabilities.
Celerra NAS Gateways and Integrated Systems have also been announced and expand the broad NAS product family with new models and enhancements that capitalise on the industry trend towards gateway-based NAS deployments. Robertson says that new native mainframe connectivity for Centera content addressed storage further unlocks the tremendous value of fixed-content digital assets stored in mainframe environments.
"EMC also announced a range of new platform-based software functionality as well as a major milestone in its ongoing commitment to the development of standards-based products for open, interoperable and automated networked storage environments," says Robertson.
